Basic Office Skills Curriculum

  • Demonstrate mastery of the keyboard and keyboarding techniques and type a minimum of 35-50 words per minute at 98% accuracy.
  • Utilize correct spelling, vocabulary, and proofread your own work.
  • Demonstrate basic alphabetizing skills.
  • Demonstrate appropriate conduct and communication skills expected in the workplace
  • Use MS Word Computer Applications to create professional-looking documents
  • Learn how to create basic spreadsheets using Microsoft Excel
  • Use the Internet and develop Email skills using Microsoft Outlook.
  • Identify workplace competencies and foundation skills required for effective job performance as defined by the Secretary’s Commission on Achieving Necessary Skills (SCANS).
  • Gain successful telephone etiquette skills when dealing with customers
